Grant Submissions Through the Center
One of the primary activities of the Center is to facilitate the
successful submission of grants. This
is accomplished through the development of interdisciplinary research
collaborations and the acquisition and maintenance of state-of-the-art
technology, backed by trained and knowledgeable personnel. In the last two
years the Center has facilitated successful submissions of new grants totally
close to 6 million new direct cost research dollars to the University.
Some examples of current center research
includes: transgenic models of platelet activation (Gartner, MMCS), alcohol and
stress interactions (Mathews and Mittlemen, Psychology; Sutter, MMCS),
cardiomyopathy and electrical-induced ventricular fibrillation, (Malkin,
Biomedical Eng), Zebrafish Development (Lessman, MMCS), adenosine receptor
function (Parrill, Chemistry and Hayes Sutter, MMCS).
Center members who submit their grants through the center will
receive a percent of their indirect cost back to them, to further support their
research.
